Softball Recap: Cigarroa Comes Up Short

Cigarroa lost against Mission Veterans Memorial back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Toros came up short against the Patriots, falling 21-11. The Toros have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rachael Mayo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Julie Benavides, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Cigarroa's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-11 record.

Coming up, Cigarroa will face off against Nixon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Toros' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they will square off against Juarez-Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
