Basketball Recap: Jaeda Davis Key Part of a Team Effort in Swamp Foxes Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Atlantic Collegiate Academy, Marion was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They secured a 36-32 W over the Conway Tigers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Swamp Foxes also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Marion's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaeda Davis, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 17 points. Maliyah Williams was another key player, putting up four points and five rebounds.

Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Conway saw an underclassman step up: freshman Surhei Brown dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahchiya Hill, who posted six points along with five boards and three steals.

Marion's record now sits at 7-4. As for Conway, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Marion didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-40 defeat against Loris on the 28th. As for Conway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-28 loss against Carvers Bay on the 28th.
