Soccer Recap: Mayfield Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with St. Pius X

Mayfield faced St. Pius X in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Trojans came up short against the Sartans, falling 4-1. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Mayfield struggled afterwards.

Their goal came courtesy of Nicole Garza, who's now up to nine this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Mayfield and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for St. Pius X, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Mayfield has already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Hobbs on the 15th. As for St. Pius X, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next match, a 2-1 defeat against Albuquerque Academy on the 16th.
