Gibbs proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 44) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Heritage Mountaineers, sneaking past 17-14. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gibbs is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.7 points over those games. As for Heritage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gibbs will take on rival Carter at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Heritage is set to square off against their familiar foe Union County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
