Basketball Recap: Camyra Toney and Mckenzie Word Secure Win for Russell County

Russell County's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They strolled past the Northside Patriots with points to spare, taking the game 58-42. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 45-35 back in December of 2024.

Leading Russell County to victory were Mckenzie Word and Camyra Toney. Word went 10 for 20 en route to 23 points, while Toney went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Word is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games she's played. Janiyah Word was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

The win got Russell County back to even at 12-12. As for Northside, they dropped their record down to 10-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Russell County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Northside has already played their next match (against Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
