Basketball Recap: Grand Island Drops Season-High Score on Fremont

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grand Island). They walked away with a 65-55 win over the Fremont Tigers on Friday. The Islanders didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Grand Island's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Victor Fisher Jr, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Fisher Jr's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Coslor, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 17 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Fremont lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zach Keaton, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. Kieryn Grothe was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Grand Island's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Fremont, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Grand Island wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-36 victory against Buena Vista on the 11th. As for Fremont, they will challenge Burke at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fremont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
