Softball Recap: Paintsville Tigers vs. Russell Red Devils

Paintsville had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-15 to make it six. They came up short against the Russell Red Devils, falling 11-1. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 13-5 to the Red Devils when the teams met back in April of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Paintsville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maggie Music, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Russell, their record now sits at 9-15. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

On Russell's side, Karson Honaker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Honaker was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabby Oborne, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Madilynn Hayes also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Paintsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Russell, they will face off against Belfry at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
