Volleyball Recap: Swanton Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kinley Curtis and Ellie Saunders

If Swanton was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Northwood on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs lost 3-0 to the Patrick Henry Patriots on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Swanton ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-20.

Swanton's loss came despite strong showings from Ellie Saunders and Kinley Curtis. Saunders had 13 assists and eight digs, while Curtis had 15 kills, 15 digs, and one block. Curtis is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in each of the last 42 games she's played dating back to last season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Patrick Henry to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooke Scherdt, who had 14 digs. That's the most digs Scherdt has posted since back in August. Harper Jackson was another key player, getting 11 assists and eight digs.

Swanton's loss dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Patrick Henry, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-1.

Swanton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Patrick Henry, they will welcome Cardinal Stritch at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
