Softball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

Athens was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 16-5 to the Farmington Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 on Tuesday.

Penny Corbett made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Casey McCoy, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Farmington, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Athens is set to challenge their familiar foe Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Farmington will square off against rival North Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
