Basketball Recap: Allen Extends Home Winning Streak to 17

Allen came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 53.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Konawa Tigers to the tune of 89-12. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 55-5.

Allen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cherish Woodward led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Woodward has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Prentice, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Allen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Allen's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points per game. As for Konawa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Allen and Strother will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Konawa, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Maud at 6:30 p.m. on January 28th.
