Tanner Ivey and Dillon Posey provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Winfield. The connection went for 56 yards, the longest such play in 4A Region 8 this season.
East Lawrence moved up to 297 from 331 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Eagles were able to make the jump by beating West Morgan 28-7.
Haleyville's dynamic duo of Ivey and Posey proved tough for the Pirates to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ivey threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns and Posey had 66 yards receiving. Jonas Dodd helped Haleyville's passing attack out by catching four balls for 65 yards.
Logan Pugh was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 173 yards as West Limestone bested Winfield. Dillon Miller also contributed to the rushing game with 128 yards on the ground.
On the ground, the Wildcats' Pugh has rushed for 368 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Aaron McWilliams. The West Limestone star has nine catches for 232 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Brooks takes on Haleyville. At the moment, the Lions are in second, while Mark Heaton's team is in third.
Rogers and Lexington played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Rogers eventually emerging with a 28-27 victory.
