Softball Recap: Johnson Creek's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to 12

Johnson Creek entered their tilt with Deerfield on Monday with 11 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 12. They came out on top against the Demons by a score of 5-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 6-2 win back in April.

Tori Buglass spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Taylor Buglass was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Lainey Benz, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Johnson Creek's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Deerfield, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-7.

Johnson Creek and Deerfield should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. Johnson Creek will square off against Cambridge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (63 vs. 327). Meanwhile, Deerfield (ranked 92nd) will meet Columbus (ranked 276th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
