Basketball Recap: Plainfield South Skates Past Richards with Ease

Plainfield South came into Thursday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 60-30 stomp they got against the Richards Bulldogs. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season.

Plainfield South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tierra Abner led the charge by putting up 15 points along with six assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Abner a new career-high in assists. Layla Lesure was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

The win got Plainfield South back to even at 6-6. As for Richards, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Plainfield South and Warren Township will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Richards, they will be taking part in a tournament against Glenbard East at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
