Baseball Recap: Wilmington Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilmington). They blew past the Trotwood-Madison Rams 23-3 on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Hurricane as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Wilmington got a massive performance out of Jake Stephens, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Stephens a new career-high. Brady Tolliver was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Wilmington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wilmington's record now sits at 2-9. As for Trotwood-Madison, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Looking ahead, Wilmington will be playing in front of their home fans against Archbishop Alter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Trotwood-Madison, they will head out to take on Ponitz Career Tech at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Panthers are coming into the contest with three straight losses at home, meaning the Rams will have to defend against a team out to give their home crowd a much needed win.
