Basketball Recap: Titusville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Titusville and Rockledge squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Titusville had to settle for second. They took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockledge Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Terriers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Raiders are ranked 173rd).

Rockledge was led to victory by Conlan Oakley and Brady Kearns. Oakley went 10 of 19 en route to 22 points along with six boards and three steals, while Kearns dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, Oakley is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. Michael Merritt was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 10 points and five boards.

Titusville's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Rockledge, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Titusville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rockledge, they will take on Atlantic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rockledge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
