Basketball Recap: Shaw Martin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Burns over Rawlins

Burns was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rawlins Outlaws. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Broncs of the 61-32 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.

Burns lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shaw Martin, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Medley, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Chris Gonzalez went supernova for Rawlins, going 9 of 14 en route to 26 points and five rebounds. Those 26 points gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Lincoln Searle was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 15 points and six boards.

Burns' defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Rawlins, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9.

Burns has already played their next game, a 68-64 loss against Glenrock on the 25th. As for Rawlins, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-38 victory against Wheatland on the 25th.
