The Vermont Academy Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Proctor Academy Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Proctor Academy will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Vermont Academy extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. Everything went the Wildcats' way against Tilton School as they made off with a 13-1 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.
Milo Tucker was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Tucker was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Vermont Academy let Lucas Sinacola and Logan Sinacola run wild. Lucas scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Logan scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Boxer, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Vermont Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tilton School only posted an OBP of .316.
Meanwhile, Proctor Academy made easy work of Holderness on Wednesday and carried off an 11-1 win.
Like Vermont Academy, Proctor Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Jack Read. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Read was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Wyatt Dodge was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Bode Dodge, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Vermont Academy pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Proctor Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Vermont Academy beat Proctor Academy 5-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
