Austin faced Buckhorn in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Black Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bucks, sneaking past 2-1. The Black Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bucks, too.

Charlie Barnes paced Austin's offense, picking up 14 kills. Barnes got some help from Maggie Jae Marsh and her 13 assists. Arden Breedlove controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Buckhorn's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chloe Brewington, who had 14 digs and one assist, and Mckenna Phillips, who had seven digs. Arianna Wright also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Austin's record now sits at 7-1. As for Buckhorn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Austin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Decatur on the 26th. As for Buckhorn, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Westminster Christian Academy on the 26th.
