Baseball Recap: Fleming Comes Up Short

Fleming had lost two consecutive heartbreakers to Parry McCluer and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Colonels lost 14-4 to the Yosemite Sam. The Colonels have struggled against the Yosemite Sam recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Caleb Crouse was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Crouse is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Matthew Herndon was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Fleming's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Parry McCluer, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fleming will square off against Patrick Henry at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.83 runs per game on average), something the Colonels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Parry McCluer, they will face off against Narrows at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Green Waves will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Yosemite Sam surely won't give up without a fight.
