Basketball Recap: Los Alamos Hilltoppers vs. Lovington Wildcats
Los Alamos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 67-29 loss at the hands of the Lovington Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 83-58 two weeks ago.
Lovington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayle Covington led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Covington a new career-high in assists (five). Jojo Perez was another key player, going 6 for 10 on his way to 15 points and six steals.
Los Alamos' loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Lovington, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Los Alamos didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-37 victory against Goddard on the 10th. As for Lovington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 70-64 defeat against Taos on the 10th.
