Snow Canyon had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Logan Grizzlies with a sharp 14-2 win on Thursday. Considering Snow Canyon has won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Avery Thorkelson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Thorkelson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Thorkelson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Snow Canyon got a massive performance out of Chandler Beck, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Beck has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.
