Baseball Game Preview: Gunderson Grizzlies vs. Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors

Gunderson is a perfect 10-0 against Yerba Buena since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Aztec Warriors at 4:00 p.m. Gunderson is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Tuesday, Gunderson made easy work of San Jose and carried off a 10-2 victory. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Christian Lucero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gunderson got a massive performance out of Brandon Salgado, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Salgado is becoming a predictor of the Grizzlies' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Lake, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gunderson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Jose only managed four hits.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Yerba Buena's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 9-3 to Silver Creek.

Gunderson's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Yerba Buena, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Gunderson took their win against Yerba Buena in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
