Basketball Recap: Calvary Day Cavaliers vs. Liberty County Panthers
The Calvary Day Cavaliers stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 63-41 margin over Liberty County. Given Calvary Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Panthers are ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calvary Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Destini Gooddine, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Gooddine hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Zora Geiger was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Liberty County still got an impressive performance from Ka?mora Hollis, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Lyric McIver, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Calvary Day has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Liberty County, they dropped their record down to 5-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Day will take on the Atomsmashers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Johnson comes in on six and the Cavaliers on four. As for Liberty County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
