Soccer Game Preview: Taylor Prep vs. Academy of the Americas

The Taylor Prep Tigers will challenge Academy of the Americas at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Taylor Prep's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Taylor Prep's offense. They came up short against Canton Preparatory on Wednesday, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Taylor Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan soccer rankings (they are ranked 448th, while Canton Preparatory are ranked 160th).

Meanwhile, Academy of the Americas entered their contest against Pontiac on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Academy of the Americas lost 5-1 to Pontiac. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, Academy of the Americas couldn't push the score so high this time.

Academy of the Americas' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-1. As for Taylor Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Taylor Prep suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Academy of the Americas in their previous matchup back in August of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
