Valley View hadn't done well against West Scranton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars came out on top against the Invaders by a score of 5-1. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Invaders back in April, they had to take a 9-0 defeat.

Troy Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kevin Essig, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win snapped Valley View's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-13 record. As for West Scranton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.

Valley View will square off against Wallenpaupack Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buckhorns have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for West Scranton, they will challenge Scranton Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
