Basketball Recap: Mater Academy Charter Find Success

Mater Academy Charter won the last time they faced Archbishop Carroll and things went their way on Friday too. The Mater Academy Charter Lions walked away with a 45-38 win over the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs.

Jahi Lopez was the offensive standout of the game as he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Aheizer Frais was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Mater Academy Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Archbishop Carroll lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Angel Marquez, who posted ten points and four steals. Those four steals gave Marquez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Gillete, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Mater Academy Charter now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Archbishop Carroll, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Mater Academy Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-46 loss against Divine Savior Academy on the 14th. As for Archbishop Carroll, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-53 victory against Immaculata-La Salle on the 14th.
