Softball Game Preview: Waukegan Bulldogs vs. Warren Township Blue Devils

Waukegan hasn't had much luck against Warren Township recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will head out to take on the Blue Devils at 4:45 p.m. Waukegan has given up an average of 19.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Waukegan is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 15-0 to Libertyville.

Meanwhile, Warren Township posted their closest win since May 17, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Mundelein 9-8. The game was the first time the Blue Devils have beaten the Mustangs on their field since April 21, 2022.

Warren Township has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Waukegan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Waukegan suffered a grim 19-1 defeat to Warren Township when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
