Football Game Preview: Medina Valley Panthers vs. Dripping Springs Tigers

Two dominant signal callers in Xavier Gonzalez and Chase Ames are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Medina Valley Panthers will take on the Dripping Springs Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Medina Valley comes in on nine and Dripping Springs on four.

Medina Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 49-7 win over Harlingen. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Medina Valley, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Connor Crisp, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Dripping Springs made easy work of Harlan on Friday and carried off a 52-28 victory. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly 24 points.

Medina Valley better focus on containing Jaceton Gotta and Cooper Reid as the pair were huge in Dripping Springs' win. Gotta rushed for 114 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries, while Reid picked up 104 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Reid got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 66 yards. James Montgomery did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 104 receiving yards.

Medina Valley's record now sits at 10-2. As for Dripping Springs, their record is now 11-1.

Medina Valley took a serious blow against Dripping Springs in their previous meeting back in November of 2017, falling 41-0. Thankfully for the Panthers, Jake Cox (who rushed for 104 yards and two scores on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
