Volleyball Recap: Maddie Hobbs Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Liberty Creek

While Pope John Paul II didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-14-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Liberty Creek Wolves by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Wolves on Saturday, they had to take a 2-1 loss.

The final score came out to 25-13, 22-25, 27-25, 25-13.

Pope John Paul II's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddie Hobbs, who had six aces and four digs. Hobbs is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Ella Fisher was another key player, getting 17 digs and six aces.

They weren't the only good server: Pope John Paul II was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 28 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Pope John Paul II and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for Liberty Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Pope John Paul II will head out on the road to face off against Hendersonville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Liberty Creek, they will challenge Macon County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
