After losing to Jefferson County the last time they met, Maryville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Maryville walked away with a 6-2 win over Jefferson County on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Rebels.
Isabella Saunders made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs.
In other pitching news, Maryville got a great performance from Sadie Johnson as she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Lily Walker, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marley Hickman, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Maryville's record now sits at 6-3. As for Jefferson County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6.
Coming up, Maryville will square off against Bearden at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maryville is facing Bearden at the right time seeing as Bearden is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Jefferson County, they will take on Carter at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
