Softball Recap: Hope Christian Wins Going Away Against Santa Rosa

Hope Christian got themselves on the board against Santa Rosa on Thursday, but Santa Rosa never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Iliana Cordova made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Cordova was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Siena Sturgis, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Hannah Pruett also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Hope Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Hope Christian's record is now 6-2. As for Santa Rosa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Hope Christian will take on Belen in a tournament on Saturday. As for Santa Rosa, they will welcome Mora at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
