Basketball Game Preview: Sumner Stingrays vs. King Lions + How To Watch

The Sumner Stingrays will square off against the King Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumner has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while King will come in with five straight wins.

On Friday, Sumner came up short against Armwood and fell 74-63.

Sumner's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Karson Coleman, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds, and Immanuel Kelly, who posted 17 points along with seven steals and three blocks. Coleman is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 53% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bennard Anson, who scored nine points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, King made off with a 53-52 victory over Lennard. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Longhorns are ranked 617th) , the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

King's win bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Sumner, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Sumner couldn't quite get it done against King when the teams last played back in January of 2024 as they fell 49-42. Can the Stingrays avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
