Soccer Game Preview: Marmion vs. Benet Academy

The Marmion Cadets are taking a road trip to challenge the Benet Academy Redwings at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marmion is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

Marmion will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Saturday, then bounced right back against Kaneland on Wednesday. The Cadets' defense stepped up to hand the Knights a 5-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for Marmion in their matchups with Kaneland: they've now won four in a row.

Marmion hit Kaneland with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jordan Peinado (2), Diego Ramirez, Jamin Berman, and Benjamin Bierman.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Benet Academy was forced to settle for a draw. They and Middleton finished up their match with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday. The outcome might've been different if Jackson Mares hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

With that draw, Benet Academy's record moves to 10-5-1. As for Marmion, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5-3.
