Basketball Recap: Shelby County Takes a Loss

Shelby County lost against Briarwood Christian last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Shelby County Wildcats were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to the Briarwood Christian Lions.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Briarwood Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Kerley, who posted 16 points and eight boards. Clara Crawford was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Shelby County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-5 record this season. As for Briarwood Christian, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shelby County will venture away from home to challenge Central of Clay County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Briarwood Christian, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Briarwood Christian Lions take on the Northridge Jaguars at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
