Volleyball Game Preview: Calvert Senecas vs. Kalida Wildcats

After both having extra time off, the Calvert Senecas and the Kalida Wildcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calvert is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Calvert is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past New Riegel 3-0.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Calvert was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-6, 25-6, 25-13.

Calvert can attribute much of their success to Kate Coleman, who had six digs and three aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Calvert was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 23 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Kalida made easy work of Pettisville on Wednesday and carried off a 3-0 win.

Kalida's win came from a few key players Calvert will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Isabel Recker, who had four digs and four aces. She is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Carlie Siefker was another key player, getting 16 digs and one assist.

Calvert's record now sits at 25-0. As for Kalida, their record is now 20-5.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Calvert has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 14.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Kalida struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.8 aces.
