Soccer Game Preview: Somerset vs. Lakeland

The Somerset Spartans will challenge the Lakeland Thunderbirds on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Somerset comes in on three and Lakeland on 13.

Somerset is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Rice Lake 4-3. It was an even better day for Xavier Roll as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Lakeland duked it out with Shawano Community on Thursday. The Thunderbirds skirted past the Hawks 2-1. Two seems to be a good number for Lakeland as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Lakeland's victory bumped their record up to 17-0-1. As for Somerset, their win bumped their record up to 19-2-1.

Somerset beat Lakeland by a goal when the teams last played back in October of 2023, winning 2-1. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Thunderbirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
