Baseball Recap: Fryeburg Finds Playoff Glory Versus Gardiner

With a playoff win on the line, Fryeburg rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Gardiner Tigers with a sharp 11-1 win.

Fryeburg got a massive performance out of Alex Allain, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Allain a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Malia, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Fryeburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gardiner only posted an OBP of .375.

Fryeburg is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Gardiner, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Fryeburg nor Gardiner have any future games scheduled.
