Basketball Game Preview: West Mesquite Wranglers vs. Highland Park Scots

West Mesquite hasn't had much luck against Highland Park recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The West Mesquite Wranglers will challenge the Highland Park Scots. West Mesquite will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.

West Mesquite is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 48-47 photo finish over Belton.

Meanwhile, Highland Park escaped with a win on Thursday against Lufkin by the margin of a single free throw, 53-52. The win was all the more spectacular given the Scots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Panthers are ranked 18th).

West Mesquite's victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 28-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points over those games. As for Highland Park, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 27-7.

West Mesquite was taken down by Highland Park 61-24 in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Can West Mesquite avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
