Basketball Game Preview: Hoisington Cardinals vs. Haven Wildcats

Hoisington is 2-8 against Haven since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cardinals take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m.

Hoisington is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. The game between them and Ellinwood didn't end well, with Hoisington falling 52-34. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Cardinals, who have now lost three close ones in a row against the Eagles.

Hoisington's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kelsi Maier, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 10 points and eight rebounds, and Brynn Tarlton, who posted a point along with six assists and five steals. Tarlton has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Laeya Beck also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, Haven took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 46-16 win over Smoky Valley. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.

Hoisington's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Haven, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4-1.

Hoisington came up short against Haven when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 55-43. Can Hoisington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
