Baseball Game Preview: Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks vs. Hargrave Military Academy Tigers

Miller School of Albemarle is 6-1 against Hargrave Military Academy since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Mavericks will be playing at home against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Miller School of Albemarle's favor as the squad sits on 26 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Hargrave Military Academy has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Miller School of Albemarle is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Calvert Hall, who was ranked third in their home state at the time (Miller School of Albemarle was ranked fourth). The Mavericks never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Tuesday. Five seems to be a good number for the Mavericks as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Kason Wagner tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Jack Warrington was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gabe Proctor, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Hargrave Military Academy and Carlisle, and Carlisle kept the tradition alive. The Tigers took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chiefs on Tuesday.

Hargrave Military Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Delaney, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Miller School of Albemarle's win bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Hargrave Military Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Everything went Miller School of Albemarle's way against Hargrave Military Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Miller School of Albemarle made off with an 18-0 victory.
