Baseball Recap: Russell County Lakers vs. Somerset Briar Jumpers

Russell County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell just short of the Somerset Briar Jumpers by a score of 6-5.

Trace Stringer was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Stringer was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base, two RBI, and a double.

Stringer wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Walker Stephens, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

As for Somerset, they will be playing at home against Corbin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Corbin's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Somerset's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
