Soccer Game Preview: Port Isabel vs. Jubilee Brownsville

Port Isabel hasn't had much luck against Jubilee Brownsville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Port Isabel Tarpons will take on the Jubilee Brownsville Titans at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Port Isabel's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They had just enough and edged IDEA Frontier College Prep out 1-0. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tarpons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 469th, while IDEA Frontier College Prep are ranked 140th).

Meanwhile, Jubilee Brownsville's game on Monday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over IDEA Riverview.

Port Isabel has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five contests. As for Jubilee Brownsville, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Port Isabel was able to grind out a solid victory over Jubilee Brownsville in their previous meeting back in January, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Port Isabel since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
