Football Recap: Irmo's Loss Ends 15-Game Winning Streak at Home

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Irmo can now relate to. They fell just short of the Northwestern Trojans by a score of 34-31 on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Irmo still got an impressive performance from Aaron (Aj) Brand Jr., who rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Brand Jr.'s rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 107 rushing yards. Donovan Murph was Brand Jr.'s top target, picking up 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Brand Jr. was just one part of a punishing run game: Irmo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwestern only rushed for 65 rushing yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northwestern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Finley Polk, who threw for 428 yards and four touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes. Those 428 passing yards gave Polk a new career-high. Kameron Vance was another key player, picking up 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Irmo's defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-2. As for Northwestern, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

As of now, neither Irmo nor Northwestern have any future games scheduled.
