Soccer Game Preview: Independence vs. Centennial

Independence is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing at home against the Centennial Titans at 5:30 p.m.

Independence headed into their last matchup having not scored more than one goal for three straight, but Diamond Hill-Jarvis let them put that streak behind them. The Knights' defense stepped up to hand the Eagles an 8-0 shutout on Friday. Olivia Weyer was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Something new happened on Friday as Alma Madison saw her first action of the season, playing 20 minutes against Diamond Hill-Jarvis. Madison made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Centennial and Royse City finished up their contest with a 3-3 draw on Tuesday.

Centennial's draw makes their record 3-2-3 this season. As for Independence, the win got them back to even at 4-4-1.
