Recap: Enka Jets vs. McDowell Titans

The Enka Jets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. The game between them and McDowell wasn't particularly close, with Enka falling 97-78. While losing is never fun, Enka can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while McDowell is ranked 96th).

Enka's loss came despite strong showings from Logan Trantham and Sam Waddell. Trantham went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 37 points and 1 assist, while Waddell scored 21 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Trantham has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Devore, who scored six points.

Even though they lost, Enka were working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

McDowell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyson Rinnert out in front who scored 22 points. It was the first time this season that Rinnert scored 15 or more points. Rylan Parkins was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.

Enka's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for McDowell, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Enka will take on North Buncombe at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Enka focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. As for McDowell, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hibriten at 8:00 p.m. on February 7th. McDowell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
