Basketball Recap: Jakyi Miles Key Part of Team Effort in Jackrabbits Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sunnyslope, Mesa was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 73-64 win over the Basha Bears. For the Jackrabbits, this counts as revenge for the 79-59 victory the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Mesa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jakyi Miles, who shot 62% from the field on his way to 22 points in addition to six boards and five assists. The matchup was Miles' third in a row with at least 22 points. Brig Bowden was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Mesa has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Basha, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesa will welcome McClintock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Basha, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
