Football Recap: Mitchell Skates Past Trezevant with Ease

Mitchell won the last time they faced Trezevant and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers blew past the Bears, posting a 49-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

Mitchell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raoul Jones, who threw for 162 yards and four touchdowns. What's more, Jones racked up 135.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August. Mitchell's leading receiver Julius Drain was Jones' top target yet again, picking up 93 receiving yards and one TD.

Mitchell's run defense was locked in: Trezevant could only muster 0.9 yards per carry. While five picked up at least three total tackles, Drain stood above the rest. He picked up 93 receiving yards and one score. Mitchell didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.2.

Mitchell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kveon Wilks and Drain.

When it comes to explaining why Trezevant lost, don't look at Terry Tucker lll. Despite the final result, he picked up 108 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The win made it two in a row for Mitchell and bumps their season record up to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Trezevant, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Mitchell will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fairley at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 10.9 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Trezevant, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Sheffield on the 17th.
