Baseball Game Preview: Chicago Christian Knights vs. Aurora Christian Eagles

Chicago Christian and Aurora Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Knights will take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chicago Christian will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Chicago Christian gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against St. Edward by a score of 8-4.

RJ Alexander Harris made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Alexander Harris was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 11 matchups.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rafe Slager, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Chicago Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Matt Rashan also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Aurora Christian duked it out with Parkview Christian Academy on Monday. The Eagles won by a run and slipped past the Falcons 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Aurora Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Niedzwiecki, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Chicago Christian's record is now 20-9. As for Aurora Christian, their record now sits at 15-13.

Chicago Christian might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Aurora Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
