Preview: Berkeley Prep vs. Montverde Academy
The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers will head out on the road to take on the Montverde Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Berkeley Prep is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Berkeley Prep extended their postseason success on Friday against Bishop Verot. Everything went their way against the Vikings as they made off with a 5-1 victory. Considering Berkeley Prep has won nine matches by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
They hit Bishop Verot with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Kate Anderson (2),
Emily Mcdermott,
Izzy Youssef, and
Kate Cunningham.
Meanwhile, Montverde Academy waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They won by a goal and slipped past Lake Highland Prep 4-3. Given Montverde Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Lake Highland Prep is ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Berkeley Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Montverde Academy, they pushed their record up to 15-4-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Berkeley Prep suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Montverde Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Berkeley Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
