Baseball Recap: Wallkill Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Wallkill duked it out with Warwick on Wednesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 8-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Mayer, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Franklin, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Wallkill's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Warwick, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Wallkill will host Saugerties at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Warwick, they will head out to take on Washingtonville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season.
